Fostering Unity & Empowerment

Investing In
Communities

Neill Sullivan strives to cultivate and enhance communities. His upbringing has significantly influenced this commitment, as his parents founded Casa Teresa. This founding ethos instilled in him a dedication to giving back, caring for others, and trying to make an impact. Casa Teresa has supported over 6,700 pregnant women and children, providing refuge from adversity. Currently serving on the Board, Neill embodies the values instilled in him from a young age, fostering a passion for community and engagement.
His experiences studying at Cal Berkeley were formative in development. He saw the constant evolution of cities and communities. He advocates for investments in new construction and alternative housing options like ADUs to ensure growth and affordability. He has created hundreds of units of housing. He has been a strong supporter of housing for low-income families and individuals, and he implemented multiple programs to support these families and individuals. During the pandemic, Neill and his company partnered with a program to house homeless families and individuals. He is one of the largest housing providers in Oakland for low-income families who rely on subsidy programs like Section 8.

Sullivan Community Space
Neill Sullivan, driven by a deep-seated passion for community development, embarked on a mission to create a safe, fun, and inclusive space for the community. This led to the birth of the Community Space in West Oakland in 2016. Originally a venue for children's activities and martial arts, it now pulsates with life, offering diverse dance classes for all ages and levels. The space also hosts educational programming for kids and adults, events to support local entrepreneurs, holiday festivities and gatherings, neighborhood cookouts, and art and mural projects.
The space has evolved into a hub for local non-profits to host events and meetings. It serves as the home base for food drives, toy drives, trash clean-up campaigns, Prescott neighborhood meetings, birthdays, celebrations of life, and much more. The center is also the nurturing ground for a transformative mentoring program, Love & Support Mentoring, which Sullivan played a pivotal role in creating. Led by his husband, LaJon, the program supports kids of color in the Bay Area as they navigate life during high school, making a profound difference in their lives. The center, always bustling with activity, strives to enrich lives and foster a stronger community in Oakland.
